Google is rolling out [Gemini 4 Argon](https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/models-and-research/gemini-models/gemini-4-argon/) through the [Fairwind Program](https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/technology/safety-security/fairwind-program/), giving governments and critical infrastructure access to a model designed for offensive cyber work. The [Argon announcement](https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/models-and-research/gemini-models/gemini-4-argon/) claims 68% accuracy on CWE-bench v1 and reports the model has discovered critical vulnerabilities missed by previous frontier models, including healthcare data exposures.

The defining choice: [Google released a version without cyber guardrails](https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/technology/safety-security/fairwind-program/) to "trusted defenders and internal teams." The company is betting that human oversight and access controls can contain an autonomous vulnerability discovery tool. That's fundamentally different from guardrails embedded in the model itself. One relies on people never being compromised or misconfigured; the other tries to prevent the problem technically.

[Fairwind spans 650+ global partners](https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/technology/safety-security/fairwind-program/). These capabilities will spread. The distinction between guardrail-free access for partners and restricted access for the public is temporary, meaningful only while the asymmetry holds.
