Unsloth Studio shipped arbitrary code execution in its model inspection feature, a path made inviting by defaulting `trust_remote_code=True` when reading model configurations. When you picked a model to inspect, the backend automatically ran custom Python code from the model's `config.json`: no weights downloaded, no inference run, no explicit permission. A malicious Hugging Face repo could execute with the backend's process permissions.

[Pillar Security researcher Ariel Fogel demonstrated the flaw](https://www.pillar.security/blog/look-dont-load-model-inspection-in-unsloth-studio-leads-to-critical-arbitrary-code-execution) with a benign proof-of-concept. Unsloth patched it in version 2026.6.9.

The dodge: no CVE, no advisory. The maintainers said Studio was still beta, so security disclosure didn't apply. Except the code was in PyPI, the standard Python package repo, downloaded by anyone installing Unsloth. Beta status doesn't quarantine you from attacks.

The flaw was real. The fix happened. But the "beta" argument for skipping disclosure sets a weak precedent. If a tool reaches PyPI distribution, users aren't running an experimental build. They're running production code that happened to be labeled beta. Disclosure should track risk, not feature status.
